Our mission at EmpowerHIM is to equip men with criminal backgrounds by providing the skills, resources, and support they need to start and grow their businesses. We believe in fostering independence, resilience, and success through entrepreneurship, empowering individuals to transform their lives and communities.

Through our united endeavors, we aim to reshape societal perspectives, exchanging the stigma of incarceration for narratives grounded in resilience, opportunity, and hope. Why EmpowerHIM was created
I launched EmpowerHIM in honor of my late husband—a remarkable man known for his intelligence, humor, personable nature, and precision. Despite his exceptional qualities, life was often challenging due to a childhood record that limited his opportunities.
He made numerous attempts to gain certifications and pursue higher education, seeking to secure stable employment, but his criminal background often dashed those hopes, leading to cycles of despair and recidivism.
My husband was a natural entrepreneur with innovative ideas, yet he lacked the necessary connections, resources, and finances to bring his visions to life. EmpowerHIM was born from the desire to carry on his legacy while supporting other men to prevent them from encountering similar hardships
At EmpowerHIM, we are dedicated to genuine rehabilitation, empowering men to succeed. Our program provides essential entrepreneurship training and financial assistance to help participants launch their businesses. We are committed to laying the groundwork and offering the support needed for their success. Together, we can break barriers and create opportunities for a brighter future.

The Problem -
Approximately 77 million Americans, or 1 in 3 adults, have a criminal record. Having a criminal record can make it difficult, or even impossible, for an individual to work in a given field, especially one that requires an occupational license.
A criminal record can reduce the likelihood of a callback or job offer by nearly 50 percent. The negative impact of a criminal record is twice as large for African American applicants.
In addition 75% of prisoners return to jail within five years of release in America.
